Today we left a little more of Gab and Vin at Francis Beach in Half Moon Bay.
The Pacific greeted us with a brisk 64 degrees, a beautiful breeze, and waves that seemed to go on forever. Another piece of my two favorite people now belongs to this incredible stretch of coastline. There is something peaceful about that. Knowing every tide that rolls in and every sunset that paints this sky will forever pass by a little piece of them.
Today Adriano put his feet in the Pacific Ocean for the very first time. Watching him experience the ocean made me smile. Afterward, we laughed together with my brother George, sharing one more memory on a trip that has been filled with so much love.
We had lunch at the Moss Beach Distillery, perched high on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific. The cool breeze, the crashing waves, and the endless blue reminded me just how beautiful this world really is.
I don’t leave their ashes in these places because I’m letting them go.
I leave little pieces of them because they still belong in this world.
They belong in the mountains and the oceans. In castles and vineyards. In places that make people stop, take a deep breath, and remember just how beautiful life can be.
Because they were beautiful.
Now, if I ever find myself back on this stretch of California coastline, I’ll know they’re here too.
A little more of Gab.
A little more of Vin.
Forever carried by the Pacific.
I still mother them.
I always will. 🌊💙
