There are no coincidences. I really believe that.
This morning Babita and I went to Mary’s for breakfast, but they were too full. Babita said, “Let’s go see your cousin.” She knows that if nothing else, David will make her a veggie sandwich. 😂
So off to The Well we went.
While we were there, David told us he had cooked four turkeys and also had pasta and tossed salad that he wanted to go somewhere it could be used.
Babita immediately thought of our friend Teresa and the shelter in Dover where she feeds people. She knew exactly where that food could go.
So we loaded up the car.
Four turkeys, pasta, tossed salad, Babita and me, headed to Dover.
And driving down there, I kept thinking about how nice it is to spend time with somebody who just gets it.
There wasn’t some big plan for today. We were literally trying to get breakfast. But one thing led to another because the people around me are the kind of people who see something that can help somebody else and figure out how to get it there.
David had the food. Babita made the connection. Teresa had people to feed. And we had a car and the time to get it there.
Everybody just did their little piece.
And I love that.
I love being part of a village where nobody has to do everything. Everybody just does something.
If Mary’s hadn’t been full, we wouldn’t have gone to The Well. If Babita hadn’t suggested going to see David, we wouldn’t have been sitting there when he mentioned the food. And if all of those little things hadn’t happened exactly the way they did, we wouldn’t have ended up driving to Dover with four turkeys in the car.
There are no coincidences.
Sometimes being part of the village is doing something huge. And sometimes it’s simply knowing someone who has something, knowing someone else who needs it, and being willing to connect the two.
And sometimes it’s a long drive with somebody who gets it. Talking about life, talking about the things that matter, and not having to explain why you do the things you do because they already understand.
Today we were just one little piece of the village.
And to think, the whole thing started because Mary’s was full and Babita knew she could always get a veggie sandwich from my cousin. 😂
